A freelance writer acquaintance of mine, who worked with PR agency folks from time to time, observed that public relations is a "very self-important business." His choice of words has always stuck with me. I think he nailed it.

I think only time will tell whether it's reality that's being described or a fantasy world full of personal attacks on real people.
I know I've gotten more e-mail from Strumpette in the past three days than I've gotten from most bloggers in the last year. Normally I'd appreciate the attention, but I really don't need an e-mail with the full text of the next blog posting every time she/he/it decides to post something.

sex sells and sexy posts about our own profession are going to sell very well amongst our peers (hey, I've subscribed.)
She's(?) made a big splash, question is, can she 'cross the chasm' and not hurt too many people trying to get there. Still, I like the posts and think there's nothing wrong with a bit of fun. I also like how quickly the Edelman guys were on her comments, I think they handled it well.

Give me a break! There are plenty of fun ways to poke fun at the profession and overall seriousness without publishing drivel that I wouldn't want my son, or husband for that matter, to see. This degrades the profession.

I'm with you on this one John. I'd say Strumpette is definitely a fake and more than likely a man. It's a good way to ruffle a few feathers and create some hype around a new blog though. Will be interesting to see how whoever is behind it intends to follow it up. That's the problem with this tactic. Once you've created your big bang you have to sustain interest. Unless of course, as you say, it's a PR professional looking to build his/her reputation with a 'made you look' stunt.
The best ways to get the attention of the big fish is to attack them and play to their baser instincts

It inspired me to post a nude photo of myself on our Chicago-based company blog - we have to keep up with the "Samantha Joneses." Very high pressure playing field in Chicago.
