I was just about to call you.
And you are right, I am struggling with that myself right now.

We likes our Precccious blog, don'ts we? Nasty clients don't wants us to play with our Precccioussss! We likes it down here in the dark, where nasty, noisy clients can't find us.

Greetings--I learned about you via Kami Huyse's blog.
From Nicholas Carr's contrarian opinion on corporate blogging to Anil Dash warning us not to scare businesses away from blogging by hyping it as a "radical" act, I see more experts arguing that blogging is a means, not an end.
I'm not in the league of those two bloggers, to say the least, but I published something in a similar vein on my new blog about communications for nonprofits, studio 501c.
Called "a blog can be like a business lunch," the (rather long) post offers a model of organizational blogging that is consistent with your idea that it should help build the business.

Thanks, everyone. I realized I needed to blog something -- ANYTHING -- when all my friends starting calling and e-mailing to ask if I was sick or dead or something.

Same is true for podcasting and doubly so! I tell new clients considering podcasting the same thing--that it's a huge time-stealer, and it's easy to get caught up in stats and building listenership. It's far to easy to make your blog your business and to forget your actual business in there!
