You can really tell the character of someone who gets caught: It's either fess up and be a man (or a woman) about it, or the bury your head in the sand, hope it goes away approach. It's too bad you ran into an ostrich.

I could tell that Fred didn't know how to respond to me. He was caught, he knew it, yet he couldn't bring himself to admit it.
It was interesting that he never denied saying it. He just kept saying that if I couldn't repeat it, then it didn't happen.
