Don't dismiss Warner as the "flavor of the weak." While he may not be the preferred Democratic choice, he has the best chance of actually winning a presidential race. Think about it: a moderate, pro-death penalty, anti-abortion, populist Southern governor. It's perfect. Any Clinton victory would be by a razor-thin margin and, regardless of the result, would leave the country more divided at a time when it is already tearing apart. Add to that, should Hillary lose, there is a chance that a real psycho like Bill Frist would come to power. He's leaving Congress next year, and I don't think it's to fade quietly into retirement. Think about it. |
