When I was night weaning Wild Man, we would do a similar thing, although by that point he was no longer sleeping with us. He'd wake up around 3:30 or 4 and call for me. I'd go check on him, and he'd ask to nurse. I would tell him no, so he'd ask me to rub his back until he feel back asleep usually within 10 minutes. It is so hard, but I do think it is important that children learn how to put themselves back to sleep. We're currently debating what kind of sleep training to do with Bear now. At 4 months he's able to sleep longer than he does, and I think he is waking up so often for comfort rather than nourishment. He still lets me get a lot of sleep, so I'm not in any rush. It would be nice to get more than 3 hours of sleep in a row though.
And La Dudarina is so cute!

Sigh... I'm just a teensy bit biased, but yes, she is .
M, good luck figuring out Bear's sleep stuff! Looking back, I certainly wish I had started trying some of the night weaning by 6-9 months rather than 15 months (!), but every kid is different. Maybe Bear is ready for snuggles instead of milk right now, and only you get to make that call.

Those ears? So mine. Once she has hair she'll probably be combing it over her ears like I did, but I think they're adorable.
