Gravatar Yes, we are obedient, we work hard, we look like they think we should look, we say what we think they want us to say (ever wonder why we almost never comment in class?). It doesn't make us less pissed off as soon as we reach the sanctuary of our homes. We buy excessive amounts of (place favorite shopping addiction here) but we survive (yes, survive as in not enjoying it much) in fields where we are seen as a liability. And it's even worse if you are non-white, it then means that you were accepted because you are a minority woman and the college needed to fill its quota and we don't deserve to be here. But there are not many places that support us in our fields and we still need to do our coursework, do research, deal with family issues, and try to make it even through the wall of discrimination. At least, I, after all my work is done, have no energy to fight for myself.

Gravatar Well said, Maddie. I hope you find that energy.
