What's Prof Sherley's current status? Is he still at MIT? Is there a letter writing campaign or something that people can participate in?

Gravatar I'm not sure the current status. You can read some of the backstory here: http://www-tech.mit.edu/V127/N1/1sherley.html

After reading Sherley's allegations, I'm quite willing to side with him. He has some very good points.

Gravatar Hah, if women left every time we had to deal with sexism, the planet would be empty of women. Seriously, leaving isn't really an option if you want to learn what can be learned in a specific grad program.

Good for you speaking up, and for your fellow grad student moderator!

Gravatar I am the grad student who organized that panel and tried to steer the direction toward hearing younger scientists speak!!! We had made that clear to Nancy and Ben; they had been on board, and then all those profs and older professionals showed up and hijacked the conversation. It also made all those young women who were hoping to air their thoughts sit quiet as their advisors were in the audience.
