Apples and oranges. Most Americans didn't have the opportunity make the trip. Most Californians didn't have the opportunity to make the trip.

Of the Americans who had the wherewithal to make the trip or the resources (whether internet or other media) to make comments on Reagan many did.

If his funeral had been held in my town and the crowd as small as it was for this muslim rally I would have gone, as would many in this small town.

We certainly would have gotten more than a couple of dozen. Now looking at the the hurdles facing a person who wanted to go to former President Reagan's funeral, the number that made it, especially those not wealthy, was pretty darn impressive.
