Communication Overtones Comments

Some of us didn't blog about it at all. We tend to think our clients have no clue about who or what a Strumpette is.
I am loyal to my readers. And they voted overwhelmingly 8-4 in my favor.

Boys will be boys. But on the other hand: you're right. You shouldn't put with MCP behaviour. I must admit I was tempted too (must be some primary instinct ) But for the rest I can only say: keep up that Aretha Franklin attitude... R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Actually there are quite a few of us, not even country student PR bloggers-

Kami,
Admittedly I’m biased, but this has got to be your best post yet. Glad to see there’s another rabble-rouser who calls it like it is. Enough said. Thanks.

Ike; I actually started a sentence about the guys who took a pass on this, and I probably should have kept it in. I almost passed too, but I tell you, females were being degraded in comments everywhere and I felt I had to speak up.
Alice, yes, I should have mentioned Sun Ho Shim's excellent list of female bloggers. For the readers who haven't seen it, be sure to click on the link in Alice's post. Come to think of it, I will just add it up top in teh first graph (social media, way cool).
My thesis is not that there are no female bloggers but they make up a a surprisingly low percentage of top-ranked blogs. As such, the general tenor of the blogosphere is decidedly male, and thus occasionally turns very "locker room," as was demonstrated this week.

Thanks Serge, Aretha and I are friends, and Andrea, if it wasn't for your example, I may not have posted.

Kami, this is great. If it took Strumpette's ill-intented musing to significantly pump up the volume of quality female PR bloggers, then so be it. A unified voice has emerged - strong, intelligent, thoughtful - a force to be reckoned with.

Very articulate and elequent.
Well said Kami!
On a sidenote: After firing a few comments back and forth yesterday, he (Strumpette) didn't allow any of my further comments on his blog. Guess he couldn't take the heat?

Thanks, Kami. Kudos on your post, too. At sometime I'd like to ask all of you to chat with my students about this, if we can set up a joint audio conference.

Robert, that's a pretty awesome idea. How incredible is it to see this group of unified "powerwomen" emerge out of this Strumpette madness? Kami, Susan and Andrea (to name a few) represent some of the greatness of blogging - giving a voice to a group of citizens not yet heard and not yet fully appreciated. Any PR student (of any gender) would benefit from their wisdom.

I think that anything that brings on a dignified conversation about this is something that I want to be a part of. Count me in Robert!

I have no problem with the "powerwomen" getting more of the attention they deserve.
I just hope that the rest of us continue to treat them as valuable individual voices, and resist the temptation to lump them all into a monolithic mold, 'cuz, ya' know, they're chicks.

Good point Ike, as I said, no affirmative action, just wanted to make a point. After today's post (Thursday), I will lay off, promise!
