Happy blog birthday, Kami!! You are as relevant now as you were then. Looking back at my first post, I wish I could say the same.
How have two years of blogging benefited you?

Kami, Happy Blog Birthday! I look forward to another wonderful year of thought provoking posts about the new-old pr. I feel that pr and marketing have gotten more exciting than they have ever been as a result of the tools available, making them truly about communication in the most relevant and immediate way possible.

Congrats on the anniversary, Kami -- and on this important nugget in your post:
"The funny thing about the new public relations is that it isn't new."
Since PR discovered the symmetrical model back in the early 1980s, the focus of our work shifted from delivering messages to developing relationships. While that shift is enhanced by new media "conversation," the approach isn't new at all. If I have a concern about PR in Web 2.0, its that digital connections could move us away from the all-important face-to-face connection.

Bill; Yes, yes and yes again. However, I don't have nearly as much problem with the technology piece as you do and I will tell you why in one word - scale.
I can have face-to-face interaction with only a few people, but with technology I can relate with many inside the community. It won't be as deep for sure, and the in-person interaction should not be ignored, but it has a place in the communication mix.

I love your first blog! It's amazing that it was two years ago, but you could put that in your blog tomorrow and not be able to tell a difference. It's the same type conversation I've had with journalism students--that newspapers are a dying breed. You're completely correct that technology is a tool to increase productivity, not take over the entire concept; therefore, 'it ain't goin' nowhere.'
It's exciting to see what other forms PR will 'morph' into in the future.
By the way... Happy late Birthday!

Congrats on two years Kami. I really have gotten lots of helpful information from your blog. I couldn't agree more with the first post. I don't think public relations will be taken over by technology any more than I think newspapers will. I do think it's amazing to see how quickly public relations is changing, and I'm excitited to see what the near future will bring. However, I think practitioners are safe...at least for a while.

Josh, thanks. I agree with everything except that practitioners are safe. Those that insist on the one-way communication model aren't safe at all.

OK, I always seem to turn up late for wishes of any kind. Still: congrats and many happy returns! I agree with Geoff: the relevance of this blog is still very high! And like Geoff, I wish I could say the same of mine. But then again: I'm only in it for the money... I mean the fun of it.
