Communication Overtones Comments

Gravatar Thanks so much for this honor, Kami! I am thrilled to be named as one of the Top 20 PowerWomen of PR and marketing blogging.

Amazing how low the percentages are. Perhaps it begins to reflect the low numbers of women who run US and global corporations (only about 3% of the public companies in the USA are run by women).

Thanks again, Kami. You rock!

Gravatar Go PR Divas! And Todd And, too.

Gravatar Very interesting research, Kami. I've noticed the discrepancy between women PR bloggers and PR practitioners. Thanks for providing links to the top women.

Gravatar Kami:

This is good work and a service to the blogosphere. The Diva (#1 and CK (#106) had pointed that out to me when they welcomed me to blogging a while back. It is really good to put numbers with hunches, as we like to do in our jobs.

And great news on ToddAnd. I knew that was worthy of coverage, it was only a question of time...

Gravatar Do you need a note from my gyni?

Sincerely,

Strumpette

Gravatar Kami, I am thrilled to be part of the Top 20 PowerWomen of PR and marketing blogging! It's also a bit disappointing that there aren't more of us. Thank you for raising our awareness. And, BTW, your blog is awesome!

Gravatar What a tremendous surprise and honot - thank you! (And I've often wondered the same thing. Where are all the women?!?)

Gravatar Kami:
Thanks for sharing the list. Wanted to let you know I'll be covering the self promotion and mentoring/coaching sessions live from BlogHer this Friday. Looking forward to meeting many more women bloggers there. You can follow the conference online at http://www.blogher.org/conference
Barbara

Gravatar Kami - This is interesting. I'm curious to see what happens to the ranking under Ad Age's banner (with my luck my blogs will continue to plummet).

One of the metrics making up the Power 150, as you know, is Todd's subjective evaluation. If Ad Age tinkers with that at all, it could be a whole new ballgame. Either way, it's well-deserved news for Todd.

Gravatar Kami - What an honor to be included with such talented women. What a sad thing that only 13% of the Power 150 are women. Kevin, I too wonder what Todd's secret subjective ingredient is and if makes a difference to the mix to include women bloggers. If anyone is interested in where the women bloggers are .. check out the blogroll at www.blogher.org

Gravatar Hey all; Thanks for your comments. Just wanted to let you know that Todd will still be involved with the Power 150, but I have asked him to weigh in on your question about how that will work now that it is going over to Ad Age.

And I agree, BlogHer is the place to find the women bloggers, I will be looking forward to your coverage of the conference Barbara.

Strumpette #33; Yes, by all means, send the note! However, as entertaining as such a note would be, Strumpette still wouldn't make the PowerWomen list as it is a group blog with both male and female authors. Sorry.

And for all of you guys who support women bloggers, you rock and have my undying loyalty!

Gravatar I was one of only two guys surrounded by about 25 women at my first PR agency, so I too am very surprised that only 13% are women. However, with new bloggers being added all the time, this number will surely change... and hopefully upward.

As for the Todd And Points, the last time I discussed that with Ad Age the thought was keep them in. I'll let you know if that changes.

Cheers to all the lady bloggers.

Todd

Gravatar Great idea Kami, but I would be remiss if I didn't point out that the latest version of The Viral Garden's Top 25 Marketing Blogs has 8 out of 25 blog with female writers!

And Ad Age picking up the Power 150 is HUGE news that we won't completely see the affects of for a while, but it's coming.

Gravatar To Kevin's point, here at Ad Age we have no immediate plans to monkey with Todd's subjective evaluations. I like that the ranking does have a qualitative filter, and that Todd is that filter. We're going to try to keep him involved in making those evaluations, but if the worst came to the worst and Todd couldn't continue to do that, or found that he didn't have enough time to ALWAYS do it, we'd try to emulate his process and do it as transparently as possible.

Gravatar Jonah/Todd;

Thanks for letting us know how you all see that working.

Mack; Yes, I see your ranking includes more ladies, though it wasn't clear to me how you got your rankings. Linking to your methodology would be helpful.

Gravatar hey kami:
i'm thrilled to be recognized as a Power Woman. it's great validation for what's become a 'labor of love' for me.

Gravatar Ummmm ... who makes up this list? how does one qualify? ... there are a ton of women bloggers in PR and marketing here in Canada that should be on that list ... and you guessed it ... I'm one of them .... 20 years in the business (all on the agency side) should give me some pretty good creds to crack the list ... look up North please .... ! JULIE (a.k.a the PR Maven)

Gravatar Julie; I would love it if you were on the list, certainly many Canadians are - Joe Thornley for instance. However, they are all men for the time being.

The list is kept by Advertising Age, and if they keep it the same way ToddAnd did, they will have a place where you can submit your blog to the list. Once submitted, Todd will rank your blog and it will also be ranked by Bloglines subscriptions, Technorati rank and Google rank. All for together determine where you fall on the list. My point is that too few women have risen to the top of this list.

Other women feel this way too and Valaria has started the W list to expose people to the writing of smart women from all over, including Canada .

As soon as I get my laptop back I plan to join the voices of the W List. I hope you will too.

Gravatar Hi - we're on the Ad Age 150 list - we're all woman -- and for some reason we aren't noted...

We host the #1 google ranked blog for women entrepreneurs.

Gravatar Kirsten;

That is fair enough, sorry I missed you. I tried to be comprehensive, but figured there might be an error. Consider yourself added!

Gravatar Interesting to note that another study of 2009, says that women make up on 13 percent of the contributors to Wikipedia http://tinyurl.com/n3xxlc. Two years later and percents are not moving a heck of a lot.

Gravatar Not surprising, thanks for the link!
