Kami, thank you for bringing me up to speed on this issue and for providing perspectives from both bloggers and AP reporters. I did not understand AP's position until reading The New York Times article to which you linked.

To weigh in on this issue, I think bloggers should at least be allowed to reprint up to 100 words of an AP story. Citing a reporter's exact words can be essential evidence for making a point. I look forward to reading AP's new guidelines.

Shana's advice about fair use is also helpful.

Tiffany; Thanks for letting me know it is helpful. I would agree that we should be able to quote small passages to make a point, along with a clear link back to the story.
