So the only thing I can think of that might not fit is something like Stikkit (stikkit.com). Definitely social (by invite only) and just as "media" as Twitter...

I am a PR student, and due to the module PR and technology, I've recently come to grips with all these social media that have reshaped the "e-reality". I find that categorisation really useful, as it helps me organise my thoughts and grasp the exact meaning and use of these media. FOr all the novices like me, I think it can be a useful resource.

My students came up with this list which looks at generic comms channels... very similar in concept. Perhaps we should do a combined list.
