Well done on holding yourself accountable on your predictions. Not a bad report card for 2008!
I've just updated my post and linked here.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Kami,
Great job!!! I bookmarked this post because I found the viral video information VERY intriguing, and want to continue to follow that trend. It is something I'm considering for my internal communications plan. Do you have any other information on it? Thanks!

For those of us avid readers of your blog where social media is not our top or even second area of expertise your insights, understandable language - and accountability is VERY helpful. Obviously you are an A" blogger in this area.
Yours is one of the blogs I recommend to audiences that don't even know about Twitter and do not join social networks - still the majority of Americans perhaps.

Kare;
Thanks for your encouragement, but then again, that is what YOU are best at. I hope to keep talking with the uninitiated since social media tools are just that, tools. The real magic is in the relationships behind those tools.
But you already knew that.

Susan;
I will try to write more about this in 2009. Here is my playlist of viral videos in YouTube:

Trend 1 – Segmentation always happens in an expanding market place. You might even bump this to an A- IMHO.
Trend 6 – 3D Internet will always be a fad. I know, I fell for VRML development in 1997, then for all flash web sites with eRain, then for x and y and z. 3D is cool eye candy, or good for exploring real 3D environments, but not for visualizing fundamentally 2D data. Sexy? Yes. Mainstream? No. Not in 2009, 10, etc… (but don’t tell SUN).
Trend 7 – I’d up your grade to an A+++ on that one. Unfortunately.
Trends 8 – Keeping an eye on the “Intense debate” plugin for Wordpress. It brings Slashdot.org meta-moderation to joe-six-pack’s blog and that might be interesting long term.

Oh yes, video. Very cool stuff. I see this getting bigger, and I really enjoy my amateur moments in this media form.
The rest, yes, and I think 7 will only get worse. We're at the beginning f junk social media.

Ed; Thanks for adding more insight to my grades Also, thanks for your insight on 3D internet stuff. It is trendy, but I wonder if it will creep in with elements. "You may say I'm a dreamer...."
Geoff; Yes, you are my video poster child, we talked about this trend last year and you went right out and got the equipment and training. You rock!

Kami,
although I've been relatively silent in the blogosphere for the last two years (intended), I continue to listen. I resonated with your post about "early adopters" stepping back from blogging and reading blogs. It has served me well...to concentrate and to contribute when it makes sense. I've found that counseling clients individually has been much more fruitful than being "a larger expert to all" out there. I like David Scott's blog post on "overkill" here: http://www.webinknow.com/2008/12...n-
linkedin.html
I continue to follow your thought leadership and wish you well.

Faith; I am so glad you found the blog. I hope that you pop in from time to time and add your own thoughts.
Dee; It is always good to hear from old friends. Your clients surely are benefiting from your insights as I have in the past. I will read the post on overkill, I am a big fan of David Meerman Scott.
