I know we are total cobags. Writing a proposal. Totally screwed, and of course the Uncanny One is in love so completely friggin useless. We did have our Three Bulls! summit tonight. But again, when Uncanny is in love, there is no point bringing up his desertion of posting.
Yay you're alive! I was beginning to worry. When you say "proposal", do you mean a grant proposal? I have a little experience with that. And by "a little", I mean lots and lots, but I hate it, so I don't tell. Good luck with that, though.

Oh. You actually have to like be correct and shit to get those grants. I work for an HIV prevention and services agency, so I mostly do HIV grants with HRSA and CDC. I used to do grantwriting for our local LGBT community center, until they worked my nerves all the way. That was interesting. The RFPs for HIV funding get tiresome. They want everyone to always be doing something amazing, new and different, but with funds as tight as they are, the problem isn't that we're doing the wrong thing. We just need to do MORE of what's already out there and working.
yeah, grantsmanship is a fine line. with science they almost want guaranteed productivity, not risk, even though risk taking is what is rewarded with breakthroughs. it is very chicken and egg. how am I supposed to have cool results to do obvious followup on without taking the risk to get the cool results. they want important experiments about important problems, but you can't just do what someone else is doing, and they want guaranteed results.
