You lucky bugger.
That's my idea of music!
I went to Mildenhall one year and saw the B1 (large US supersonic bomber thing with 4 very big jet engines) climb on full afterburners, wow! Sounded like someone was ripping the sky in 2, fabulous sonics man!

Used to go to Biggin Hill a lot as a kid. F4 Phantom and BAC Lightning made such a terrific noise you thought the world was ending.
The place where I work seems to be used by the military as a navigation reference point of some sort. Often get Tornadoes fly by, sometimes even US Air Force flies by in F-14s. Sometimes the odd Hercules or even a flight of Lynx or Chinook helicopters go by.
Yesterday I heard the unmistakeable dulcet tones of the Roll-Royce Merlin Engine. Looked out the window to see a Spitfire and Hurricane fly past. I presume they were part of the Battle of Britain flight, though didn't see the Lancaster unfortunately.

I live under what used to be the flight path for concorde, so we regularly had to stop conversations because of the noise. At least you only have to cope with it for 2 weeks while at work :P

Ciber - I live about 4 miles south of Heathrow. Not enough to stop conversation, but enough that aircraft noise is constant.

Fair enough
Aircraft normally decide to turn over my house, which can be quite annoying and worrying, especially when it looks like the bottom of the wings are just about 20m in the air.

Mmmm, ta for the nice memories.
Years ago as a youngster, on a flight from Heathrow to Belfast we were told there was going to be a little delay, I with some other young ones was asked if I'd mind getting out of my seat and going to the door (the steps were still there) ....to see Concorde take-off! Awesome (in the truest sense of the word!).
I also had the pleasure once of noticing this slowly growing odd growl, & then going outside & seeing the B of B flight Lancaster come along & fly low & almost directly over my house once - glorious!

Lucky you! I spent years paying good money to see all that. Having said that I now live in an area in Scotland used by the forces for 'practice'. Daily we have our own private shows......and damn, those guys are low and wild! The locals hate it...I love it :o)
