If you post more details of your boiler and it's fault on the BBC Diy site somebody there may be able to help. There are some "gas engineers" who regularly post there. It could save you a few bob!
We don't do too badly - we have a service plan, so we pay a flat rate regardless of how many call-outs or parts we need during teh year. And we get an annual service too (although it seems to have been less than perfect in this case).
