Hi there,
Just surfed in on BE. I'm a booklover too and used to manage a bookstore. actually.
I looked at your profile and I'd recommend: Lucky by Alice Sebold (autobiographical) and The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood, which kicks ass. (So does her newes, Oryx and Crake, but i think you'd really like RB)
Also by Atwood, given your other likes: Cat's Eye.
Hope this helps!
Cheers, LingLing

I suggest "Undead and Unwed" by Mary Janice Davidson. She also has another book coming out called Undead and Unemployed.
They're light reading but they had me rolling and you did say you liked the Shopaholic series.
I also found a trilogy that I adored called The Ancient Future Trilogy by Traci Harding.

Hi Kate!
How about a good memoir? "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls, now a journalist but the product of a very bizarre childhood. Excellent book.
For fiction, I'd recommend "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safran Foer.
I'm not a pop-fiction reader either (my daughter LOVES the Shopaholic books and she and I have very similar taste in books).

Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffeneger. You need to have time for this book, though.

Try Bel Canto by Ann Patchett -- and then The Magician's Assistant, also by Ann Patchett. She writes like a dream.
