I hate when the ones you're supposed to look up to let you down. I recently heard this gem from a member of my own family.

As if being shot by another race is okay.

Hey, I'm really sorry to hear about your dad's correspondence. It's understandable that you'd want to have a functional relationship with him. I remember him somewhat, and I'm sure you remember my parents somewhat. I just got home after a 10-day visit to New Hampshire, which exceeded my maximum dose of parental visitation tolerance. I wish I could get along with them, but after a week in their presence, all the bad memories and grudges come crashing back, no matter how long I've been away. It's difficult and sad, to say the least.
