Purdue just dodged 2 bullets. I wish the coaches would call plays that get the receivers a little beyond the 1st down marker on 3rd downs to pick it up, there's absolutely no pressure on Boeckman right now.

I think (I'd HOPE) Boecks and the coaching staff learned their lesson tonight. I'm beginning to think the Illinois game is getting bigger every week and the Penn State game is going to be about as tough for the D as either NW, Minny, or Purdue.
I wouldn't be all that surprised if OSU was ranked as low as 6 when the BCS polls come out. The schedule is weak this year.

It's too bad Saine had that knee surgery. They could've played him and let Beanie heal. It'll be interesting to see to starts next week. I'd be inclined to sit him until it gets better and just deal with starting Mo and slowly getting Saine back in the rotation. That is, if Boecks can look for somebody besides Robo deep every pass play.
After this offensive performance, I'm not sure they deserve a top 5 ranking.

I'm not overly concerned with our offensive performance. I think JT, as customary, reigned things in once we had the comfortable lead.
The long balls were chances but we could have dinked and dunked down the field on these guys if we wanted to.

Tressel just stated in the postgame interview that they told Boecks not to overthrow the ball, that they (the receivers, I guess) would break it up if it was underthrown a little.
So there's the explanation for the picks. They didn't really care that much about them, given where they happened.

Yeah, the Gibson thing definitely happened. Walked off the practice field after a spat with coaches but then rethought his decision and decided to come back. He was welcomed but had to sit out a one game suspension for the outburst.

Also, the early checkout thing was true as well. The Buckeyes had to check out at noon, a full 8 hours before game time.

Well, a win is a win. I thought our defense was lights out, but our offense struggled a bit. I did like the more aggresive play calling my JT, I believe he is giving people more to think about later in the season. Hopefully, Beanie can rest next week. Ankle injuries can be very tricky especially if you keep reinjuring it. Look how long it took Ginn to fully recover. Well overall a good game. GO BUCKS!

I am getting very tired of seeing Beanie limp off the field every week. I don't challenge his manhood. I think the guy is just hurt. Seriously...the MSU game begins the "stretch run" for this team. They are about to be ranked 2nd or 3rd and will not be able to "finish" this season without Beanie carrying about 25-30 times in the final 5 games. As such...there is absolutely NO NEED for him to practice or play a single down against flippin' KENT!! Let "Marley" and Saine carry the load this week. What do you guys think?

Agreed.
I don't hold it against him at all.. There's a fine line between 'playing hurt', which players do all the time.. and 'playing injured', which no player should have to do.
I think we're playing right on that line with Beanie right now, and I'm all for letting him sit out the next two weeks and even burning Boom Herron's redshirt if we need the extra depth.
At this point, one less year of eligibility for Boom is a good trade for 2 weeks of rest and a healthy Chris Wells.

Last night I allowed myself to start thinking Nat'l Championship game against Florida. Anyone else? Also, I liked that we didn't burn ourselves with a lot of stupid penalties. I wish we could have held on to those picks that we dropped or completed that one pass to Robo on the two yard line. You want to read a fan revolt go to www.boilerstation.com. They are brutal, ranting about all the red in the stands and the O-H-I-O all night. Beanie did seem in a zone alone on the sidelines. I said last week that Illinois would be the trouble spot in the schedule, I haven't changed my mind. Florida is in denial and waiting for the rematch/showdown in Atlanta later. I have never seen so much profanity on a blog site (even MZone) as I have on EDSBS (UF's). I read that the tow lot operator in the Joiner incident was being threatened by the Florida "faithful". Being crazy does not make you a "better" fan.
Finally, is anyone still worried about Michigan and "throwing out the records" stuff? Just asking. Go Bucks and God Bless our Troops in harm's way!!

I hate to say it but Boeckman's weakness was exposed. Even if he was instructed not to overthrow his receivers, he still has a big issue with staring down his receivers. I mentioned this earlier in the season, and the Purdue DB's had all day to pick those passes off. I still think Boeckman gives us our best chance at winning, he just has to work out some of the technical part of the position.
I was sort of disappointed when I seen Beanie sitting all by himself and not supporting his teammates out on the field. Are they always going to try and run Maurice Wells up the middle? I think we seen what he can do when he turns the corner.
Can't say enough about the defense. They definitely deserve the game ball for this victory. Freeman is really coming into his own out there. I really hope one of these days when the defense is on the verge of a shutout, we can keep all our starters in the game and actually finish the game.
I couldn't believe the OSU fans that were at that game. During kickoffs you could clearly hear the O-H-I-O even on TV. Let's just hope that left a impression on the national television audience, especially when coming out of the break the stadium was chanting OH-IO!!!

RE: Shutouts..I don't care. If the game isn't depending on the Defense holding, no reason to keep guys in harms way. Let the backups get the reps they earn each week, and let the starters get the rest they need. W's matter, not Shutouts.
