Every time I receive a telephone solicitation for breast cancer research, I answer flatly, "No." If they just say "Good-bye", I say, "Wait. Don't you want to know why I won't contribute?" There is always a surprised, "Ah, Yes." So I tell them that, until the medical research community recognizes and investigates the link between breast cancer and abortion, I will not contribute." The solicitors have always been surprised to hear that, and they say that they will pass that information on to their bosses.

Wow ... the anti-Catholic hatred and ignorance in those comments blew me away... "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do"... Just, wow...

The Diocese of Little Rock has retracted its statement and apologized for spreding false information about the Foundation.

I know it did, Katherine, and I think this was a mistake. So, evidently, does the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.

Thank you for posting.

Actually the Archdiocese of St. Louis does not hold the position that the Little Rock diocese made a mistake. Archbishop Burke also backed away from his previous statement, though not as far as the Little Rock diocese. Burke apologized tht his first statement contained untrue information and said that while the Archdiocese has no policy against the Komen Foundation, her personally advises against interaction.
