A very honest and thought-provoking article. I totally agreed with William Donohue's response:
"Just reading what Sally Quinn said is enough to give any Christian, especially Catholics, more than a 'slightly nauseating sensation.' In her privileged world, life is all about experiences and feelings. … Moreover, Quinn's statement not only reeks of narcissism, it shows a profound disrespect for Catholics and the beliefs they hold dear."
There are few things I've read that have been more disrespectful and offensive as Quinn saying "Last Wednesday I was determined to take it for Tim, transubstantiation notwithstanding."
Notwithstanding? Determined to take it for Tim? It sounded like she was "taking one for Team Protestant."
Sally Quinn deserved this and so much more. What smug condescension.

If she took Holy Communion in violation of her conscience, and without discerning the body and the blood of the Lord, her Amen was a lie and she ate and drank condemnation upon herself.
Hope Sally likes hot places and sulfurous odors.
