"I believe that I've fallen in love", he said, by way of justifying his behavior. As though that trumps everything.
If he doesn't want to upset anyone, why has to arranged to speak at an Episcopalian service Sunday?
I'd guess he's leaving the Church because, once laicized, he couldn't marry a "divorcee" anyway.
I suspect there have been many Episcopal priests leaving to become Catholics, that the witness of the Catholic Church in all matters makes them realize how far they've strayed; this is why the Episcopal Bishop behaved so shamefully: he's ashamed when he compares what they've become compared to what the Church still is.

The Episcopal bishop is not the bad guy here. Cutie and he have been in discussion for two years. Cutie planned to abandon the barque of Peter at the end of 2009 anyway and the publishing of the photos just moved their joint plans forward.
Cutie and his girlfriend attempted marriage before a judge this week. He has not been laisised by the pope therefore he is still bound by his promise of celibacy.
