You are truly a "voice of reason."
A counselor in a CATHOLIC hospital should tell the person that abortion is not an option. That it kills an innocent human life. It is mortal sin. Isn't that what the Church teaches?
What is difficult about this?

I think that Jesus called them "whitened sepulchres," and He didn't have much good to say about them.

Kelly,
You are right on about this.
It is not acceptable.

Dear Kelly,
I think your Google analogy is the best match. Even if the hospital says, "Call your insurer," it still gives the means to procure the murder.
However, I must ponder if this is remote material assistance. Just as the Cutco salesman won't be condemned for selling knives to someone who later uses them for murder, will the hospital be condemned for saying "Call your insurer"? In this case, the hospital should not say that because anyone with insurance knows to look up practitioners for any medicine before they seek out the aid.

Brother,
Thank you for your post and sharing your thoughts.
I'm not sure I understand your Cutco analogy.
In fact, I know I don't understand it. That is no doubt my denseness, not your presentation.
My point is simple: if someone calls a Catholic hospital seeking something which clearly violates Catholic teaching, a God-given opportunity is presented to deter the one who is seeking these things.

Dear Kelly,
My question that was hiding is, how sinful would that act be to recommend places? I mean, is this remote material cooperation (e.g., the medical supply companies that sell to abortion doctors), or is it more?

Brother AJK,
I cannot limn the various degrees of sin, nor, in fact, am I capable of identifying any sinner other than myself.
Your question should, I imagine, be taken up with your director...not a simple lady in the pew.
May God bless you.

Well, I'll take a stab at this.
If a person told you he needed the services of a prostitute, would you say Caritas doesn't provide those services here but there's a brothel at the corner of Columbus and Washington Street?

No, because I don't think Columbus and Washington intersect.
Sorry. In this case, Carol, I think the proper action would be to pray for the requester, and try to talk him out of it. If that didn't work, I'd probably try to get a cop to tail him.
