I too saw this documentary, and was also was disappointed on their emphasis of pain. I really wish they would have done a pinch more research and looked into Hypnobirthing and highlighted that in the documentary.
I do agree it was very much targeted towards us Americans....I must say, that my country is very much far removed from true births. Most hospitals treat it like a McDonalds drive thru window. It's sad really.
I feel very grateful that my hospital not only supports Hypnobirthing, but has their own midwifes on staff as well as a Hypnobirthing instructor.

I've never watched the documentary for the very reasons you mention. While I'm grateful that it has shed light on the insane way the maternity system runs in America, I cannot sit through a film that portrays birth as horribly painful. We HypnoBirthing practitioners know differently!
