a bit of trivia- a couple of years ago Les Claypool and his Flying Frog Brigage played just up the road from the dinosaur park at the Arizona Beach RV park. Closer to Port Awful er i mean Port Orford than Brookings.

AND... there is a road, the 299, i think, that heads out of Crescent City and goes through the Trinity-Shasta forest and drops you around Redding. My husband and i took it once on a whim going to AZ.

299 indeed and it's a cool drive. Our first summer in Roseburg we drove down to Crecent City and camped near the redwoods there. It was awesome.

Yeah, I've driven on 299 several times over to Arcata (another one of my favorite places) from Redding. It's a hell of a curvy road but a mighty pretty one for sure too.
