Gravatar My thoughts pretty much exactly, although I should add that I didn't much care for the fate/waste of Mystique or Rogue in this film. Two great characters that kind of fizzled. The story needed more emotion, like you said. But I loved The Danger Room, and Kitty Pryde was cast really well. As for that death that you mentioned that felt like it was missing scenes...I kind of liked that. I thought it was kind of a fitting end, and the mystery behind it...he faded away like he, well, faded away.

Gravatar That *has* to be it. Scenes HAVE to be missing or else they're leaving it open for sequelage. Because if we're talking about the same character death, that was a pretty punk-y way to go.

Gravatar Well of course they're leaving it open. Gotta have some means for Apocalypse to ressurect him by in the fourth film.

Gravatar Eh, the whole thing struck me as the cinematic equivalent of kids taping their G.I. Joe figures to firecrackers -- too focused on breaking everything, not so much on the consequence thereof. They did some major stuff, but didn't bother with any emotional impact.

For example, the death I think you're talking about -- where halfway through the movie, somebody finally says, "So, uh, I guess XXXX died in the first act, huh?"

That said, it was kinda fun to watch...

Gravatar Moving away from the death talk -- and I realize I'm pretty late to the game -- I was really upset with how Prof. X was portrayed. Gone was his wisdom, humanity and grace. Instead, he came off as mean, authoritarian and ill-tempered. I actually thought we were going to get some crappy twist where it was revealed the Professor was being impersonated because he was so far out of character. That really bugged me.

Gravatar with regards to your comment that one of the characters really went out in a "punk" fashion, and deserved better, which character are you referring to?

Gravatar Oh my god, you commented on a 2 1/2 year old blog post!

If I rack my brain in the wayback machine to 2006, I believe I was talking about Cyclops, I think!
