Don't make the mistake of lumping Let it Be's follow-up, Tim, in with that "final albums not so great" category...it's every bit as good as its predecessor, if not better in a lot of ways. In my opinion, of course.
I think sometimes that someone should put out an open call for stories about the 'Mats from people who have seen them perform, and publish them...I've got a couple of 'em, and I'm sure there are tons of great ones out there!
Naw, Tim is fantastic, I'd say pretty much the equal of LIB -- and I quite like the last three albums too, though they're pretty much Westerberg solos by the end.
I wish, wish I had seen 'em live when I could've but alas, too young and too dumb...
I go back and forth whether the Ramones or Replacements are my favorite band, but they're both so great it hardly matters. The Mats are the guys I connected the most with, seeing them three times in college and just after, and they were always great. Had a chance to see that final show in CHicago, but opted to avoid the crowds. Idiot!
