Kilo, I'm still very undecided, but I know the frontrunners are not for me.
I know you support Duncan Hunter, but would you be offended if Mike Hukabee ended up being the nominee? sorry if you have already posted on this and I missed it.
Fred Thompson is a liar and fruad and profited off killing the unborn in his lobbying for abortion clinics. The man is scum.
How anyone can support Thompson is beyond me. He has little record but a lot of baggage.
For years he took credit for being responsible for revealing the fact there was a taping system in the WH when he just asked the question. He was in a bar with a reporter when someone hunted him down with the news that others had discovered so he calls the Nixon WH right away.
This man has no business running and Republicans should repudiate him immediately instead of trying to defend him.
So now we find on top of everything else that he tried to keep the abortion plank out of the 1996 Platform. Some pro-lifer and people are snowed by him being a two-bit actor.
Amazing.
First, former WH CoS Sununu denies Thompson lobbied for this as does the Thompson camp. (The claim comes from a leftwing group and is seconded by a former Dem member of Congress I've never heard of.) Second, Nixon thought he was smarter than everyone and held Reagan in similar contempt. Nixon was in fact scum who expanded government and instituted socialistic wage and price controls. Third, these complaints are coming from the Drive-By Media and are largely being echoed by supporters of second-tier candidates and Romney supporters.
Nothing against Hunter here. I like him and wish he had a better shot. And I'm not lumping you in with this group, either, Kilo. But there are a bunch, especially in certain places that are doing the bidding of the DBM.
HR - I would be disappointed because of Hucks immigration views. I also see a need today for a President with military knowledge and a strong stance on China.
Riley - I live very close to Tn-Va line. I am no stranger to Fred Thompson news and what is being talked about locally. Fred has some issues and they will not go away. He leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to his record, or lack there of. I am just one of the million pro lifers who have legitimate questions about his past statements on abortion, gun control, and his work as a lobbyist.
While many see Fred as a unifier of the party, I do not. I see a Washington Insider with a history of lobbying for things I do not approve of, riding his fame as a movie star to gain the nomination. I will not sacrifice my core beliefs to any party or man.
Ms Coulter was right, Fred is our Obama. He talks a good game but what has he really done?
