The Muse is a fickle sort, isn't she?
I've taken to writing down little scenes I think of in a notebook (yep, the old-fashioned pen and ink way). They give me inspiration when I need it most, and remind me of the thoughts and emotions associated with a particular instance of my life (or someone else's).
I am so jealous of your trip next year! Take lots of pics and remember to share with the group when you return.
