Gravatar Hi all MGR fans,
This is a nice post. I know for true for most of the information in this post because I am actually from Chittoor district.(Tirupati city). My native place is a village near Nagari mandal. Nagari, Puttur and Chittoor towns there are more Tamil people than Telugu people. There is a huge following for MGR in these places. For instance, in our native village itself there are a few active fan clubs still functioning for MGR and is big statue right in the entrance of the village. Most Andhra Politicians bring dupes of actors like MGR and Rajini and play the songs of their movies during election time. In our village, even household functions are not without legends like MGR, NTR. Some marriages in our village will have MGR photos alongside Lord Venkateswara and other gods and some print banners as MGR is blessing the couple etc. May be the same scene is happening in TN also. But this kind of following in AP is very peculiar and is only for MGR.MGR really rocks till date.

Mahesh

Gravatar Hello Sir,
I wonder how you spend your time to collect all info about our thalaivar.Seriously I was thinking that "english speaking tamil people "will not like thalaivar's movies and only in village people will watch thalaivar's movies. But for a surprise the postings and comments are coming from all corners. I feel very proud to be a MGR fan. And I wish all success for your eternal efforts ....

Gravatar Hi friends,
One more thing in our city Tirupati is that there is a substantial Tamil-speaking populace in Tirupati(arnd 20%). I can still see MGR's posters stuck over the walls of a few homes in some working class houses. Till about a few years ago, Rickshaws were in use in the city. I have seen many rickshaws that had MGR photo on the back of the Rickshaw. Now that Rickshaws have disappered from the road of late and has become a thing of the past now. This following among Rickshaw pullers may be because of the Blockbuster MGR movie Rickshawkkaran's influence in addition to MGR's charisma over the working classes.

Gravatar I would like to Thank Mahesh for his post. It is always good to hear from a member of that city which magazines or news paper writes about.
Thanks again

Gravatar congrats for your 300 post.Keeping going Roop.

Gravatar Thanks for the comments. Mahesh if it possible please forward the photo of MGR statue we will use it in our Blog.

Ramkumar most MGR Fans are lower and Middle class family who did not have the opportunity to use Computers daily, that is why there is less MGR topic in Net.

When they get to know about MGR website there is big response.
