I am not sure how reliable your record is. out of 115 movies of MT only 10 have collected 13 lakhs and what about the other movies, the record is low 10 out of 115.
you have said that the records are unbeaten till 1978 it is false, NT movie thiyagam has shattered the record created by usv. if you want i will tell you.
you have also claimed that Ithayakani (1975) – Rs.19,89,881.39 and you have given the record as 15,89,243.94 in bold letters. How was it possible
that the same madras had two different collection. did the movie collected 19 lakhs and 15 lakhs same time, how it is possible. you have lot of claims that are untrue.

Are you so dumb in value analysis ? Re. 1 today was worth more than Rs. 10 , 10 years ago. The value of rupee or any currency comes down . Going by this logic, even if an old movie has collected Rs. 10 lacs or Rs. 7 lacs during 65 or 70 is as good as Rs. 13 lacs. Our thalaivar movies have grossed much more than that. Ada Kadavule . It is great to see the records of MGR movies here. No doubt, MGR made a colorful BO record - but at the same time, it is also true a simple NT movie Thiygam broke all records of MGR's much hyped big-budget movie USV. Though I was very small at that time, my brother said Thiygam had a monster run at Madurai Chinatmani theater. In addition, one of the greatest NT fan (hubber) has listed Thiyagam collection in TFM web site. If you are interestd, you will need to search this detail there.
I think you cannot dispute the fact thiyagam shattered all collection of USV; can you? The question of 2nd release collection does not make any sense. On this aspect again, no other actor's 2nd time release BO collection has ever beaten NT's VPKattabomman record. In 80s, VPK ran over 70+ days at Madurai Alankar.
It is also true that most of MT (MGR) big collection movies are from his own production - such as USV, APenn, NMannan, etc. Only a handful of movies out of 130+ are from other production houses. But, in case of NT, most of his big collection movies are from other production houses. And all NT's blockbusters such as PPattanama, Paava Mannippu, Parasakthi, VMaaligai (other production houses) are low-to-medium budget movies. IN spite of no extravaganze that normally come with MGR movies, NT made a huge hit - that is IMO, the biggest achivement.
Ok, here is the challenge: How many times MGR released two movies on the same day and both of them ran over 100 days? I guess the answer is NONE. You know NT's record on this aspect - Only NT made it and I am sure this record will never be touched by any other tamil actor.
As my uncle (who was an NT fan) said, both NT and MT were equally cash register emperors in their own aspect. SO, both MT and NT were great.

Great Roop. MGR's periya idathu penn is one of my favorites - I always felt PIPenn is a NT-type movie. Do you have details about that movie? Like where it was released (especially in Madurai), BO collection and other details? IMO, PIPenn has got a lot of scope for MGR type movie + emotional acting involved from MT.
