Your "second of all" hits the nail right on the head. In fact, if you didn't mention it, i was gonna.
I firmly believe that one of the reasons they chose Iraq was specifically BECAUSE of the devastation. We're kidding ourselves if we think funneling (sp?) billions and billions of taxpayer dollars to American corporate interests was caused by a "miscalculation".
And maybe that is a little whacked out, but the fact is, corporations are not exactly shy about letting people die in order to make a buck. So there's no reason to think they wouldn't push for having them killed in order to make a buck. Especially if they were willing to convince themselves that maybe, just maybe, they were actually doing something good.
