Thanks Kissfan. That's pretty interesting about Roberts.

Well, at least you can give him credit for being honest...I guess.
The bits I've been reading about him hasn't made me all warm and fuzzy inside.
I'm wondering if this isn't a red herring. Could it be possible that this is not the guy they want to be Supreme Court Justice? We all know that his name came out to get the media off Rove's back. Now everyone has time to look into his background and try to flush him down the toilet. If this wasn't the first choice, then Bush could throw out his real choice later. The Dems do battle with Roberts, but then will be told that they aren't cooperating with the administration. Then surprise...
Or maybe I'm seeing conspericies (that's not spelled right, sorry) everwhere.

Actually Lisa,
I think this may just be par for the course in the Bush administration. Keep in mind some of their other nominees like Kerick for Homeland Security Director and Bolton for UN Ambassador. Both of these men had rather checkered pasts that the administration either ignored or simply overlooked. I'm not sure that the White House's vetting process is too rigorous.

Actually Kissfan, i think the vetting process is just fine. Think about it for a second. Nominating people like Kerik and Bolton wasn't a mistake. It was a philosophy.
When you're as rotten to the core as this administration is, the last thing you want milling about is someone who has an ounce of honesty or morals.
They know exactly who they're nominating to these positions.

Ickabod,
Interesting take on things. I hadn't looked at it that way.
