Gravatar Clearly the parade sign was a sign that many of us have been anxiously waiting and hoping for.

Masses, turning corners, through cognitive dissonance - is a process.

It would be "a good thing" if mainstreet's flag stickers and yellow ribbon magnets evolved to communicate a mainstream call/demand to bring our kids home...

I had a hard time this past 4th of July raising the flag up the pole at the lake cabin.

I sensed, for the first time in my life, my flag had taken on a new meaning. It appeared to represent a simplistic gesture of blind nationalism supporting Bush's protracted war deployment based upon series of reasons that adjust anew as the last reason is proven empty. I replaced the flag with a big spinning windsock - but for me the symbolism just kept on going...

However, after your update report from mainstreet USA, I have a small reason for holding on to faith. Thanks for sharing your story.

Gravatar Thanks for your comments Scott and welcome to Truespeak. Don't despair, the flag still represents you and I just as much as anyone else. It's our country, too.

Come back any time.

Gravatar Your post gives me hope.
I keep thinking I'm going to find out who makes those yellow ribbon magnets and contact them. I'll ask them if they can make some that say, SUPPORT OUR TROOPS and BRING THEM HOME! At least then I'd have a reason to buy one.

Gravatar wanda,

Magnets that say: "Bring Them Home Now - Support our Troops" and another that says: "Support our Troops - End the War" are $3.00 per magnet available at:
