Gravatar Always good to read some one who gets it. I like the Bush in a Prius picture too. Miers is the one who gave the PDB to Bush on Aug. 6, 2001. You know, the one that said Osama determined to strike US.........

Gravatar I will say this, the man is full of surprises. He has consistantly done what appears to be the dumbest thing he could possibly do. The only think I can think of that would have been more preposperous than this is if he'd nominated Rove or Cheney. Neither of which would have surprised me.
Saying she shares his philosophy doesn't tell me much, since I'm not sure I know what HIS philosophy is. I don't know where Rove & Cheney's influence ends and the real Gdubya begins.
What I found really interesting today was when he was asked if he was still a concervative, he kind of shrugged, put on that smirk and said yes, he was as much a conservative now as he always was. Then when asked he wanted to see Roe-v-Wade overturned, he refused to say yes or no. I can't help but wonder if any of really know the real George W. Bush.

Gravatar It seems that the one thing that he values above all is not changing. The wronger you are, the more you dig in your heels. If he's accused of cronyism with Brownie and co., by God, he'll crony up even more, just to show he 'can't be pushed around' by anyone so lowly and insignificant as...oh - the electorate!

Gravatar Alicia, I think your assuming that the man believes he's capable of being wrong. One of the many traits he inherited from his Mother is the arrogance of thinking it's always the other fella who's mistaken.

Gravatar Well...I guess I'm in the minority...I happen to believe that the Consitution shouldn't change without a great deal of forthought.

SCOTUS's job is to match sets of facts against what the Constitution says, and see whether or not the outcomes match what the guidelines are, we've had far too much change with the imputation of "auras emmanating from the penumba" and other BS like that. In this case adherance to one philosophy is a good thing.

Gravatar You are far from alone here Delftsman.
But remember we are blogging with people who hold the belief that the constitution is a " living document " and should be ever changing and growing.

John Paul Stevens wrote an article about this very belief, and Scalia wrote an opposite opinion in his book.

I will try to find them for you and get them posted.

C.
