Gravatar I read that report too. I kinda wanted to do the happy dance.
I'm trying hard not to get my hopes too high. But seriously I hope we can hold onto this momentum, and turn it into votes come 06/08

Gravatar As elections approach - a desperately precarious situation for maintaining Republican control, say for example, Bush's popularity registering at disaster level, is a recipe for programs that generate either mass fear or mass optimism.

I shudder imagining the more likely program.

I view the present political set-up as one might view a child predisposed to treachery sitting in “time-out” behind a closed door in an empty room but for a floor mop & cleaner on one side of the room and a can of gasoline and book of matches on the other.

Thanks,
- Scott

Gravatar wanda - if anybody can squander this opportunity it's the Democrats. I'm hoping that with Howard Dean at the helm that things are going to be different.

Scott - you're exactly right. Remember how often we had terror alerts in the run up to the November election? How many have we had since? If you said none, you're correct. These guys will do whatever they can to scare the people into supporting them. It's the classic bully case. They use fear and intimidation to gain acceptance.

Gravatar Amen to that.

And not to toot my own horn or anything, but what i said back in April (http://rightsidedown.blogspot.com/2005/04/fred- barnes.html) i think still stands.

Up to the election, Bush was viewed as "The 9/11 President" and John Kerry was viewed as the outsider. The election was framed as being Kerry Vs America (in the form of Bush). But once the election was over, people then felt comfortable looking at Bush as who he really is as opposed to who they want him to be. And it's been all downhill ever since.

Gravatar Wow, Ickabod, I think that's a great obsevation. Too bad 'Americans' didn't wake up a wee bit sooner. Like maybe Nov 2nd.

Gravatar Ickabod,

I remember that post. In fact, I think I even posted a link to it over at Dailykos. Great observation! Still relevant, too.

Gravatar Yeah, i remember the pat on the back, Kissfan. That's how i knew it was a pretty darn good post
