Very true, kissfan, and the jackals on the right are more than eager to exploit anything they find to discredit Democrats, even if it's manufactured out of whole cloth.
I don't think the issue is whether he votes his conscience or is under the thumb of special interest groups. In my view, the issue is what his conscience tells him to do.
