Your commentary on dystopian society should be politically agnostic, its actually an indictment of government and the Obama administration is fomenting dystopia as you describe it. Cataclysmic events? yup, got it, the economy is too good of a crisis to waste. Citizens looking to the government to protect them? yup, validated in surveys and being promoted by Obama. Media control and propaganda? not yet, fairness doctrine on hold for now. Painting the enemy as evil? yup, anything not Obama driven must surely be at the evil direction of Rush, Cheney, Rove. Social classes? yup, started long before Bush and will continue under Obama. Keeping citizens uneducated? yup, although this one's hard to market to the populace, our education system doesn't deliver smart people in spite of the funding. Economic models controlled by the government and wealth flowing to connected people? yup, the Fed, the TARP, the growth of the public sector as a % of the economy, Fannie and Freddie, its all there.
