AhhhI I thought it was just me! I get the lockup, nothing works but everything is still running problem as well. I have quicksilver running so I just hit control and type in the name of the app I want to change to and it opens up and runs fine. But the dock is hosed and I can't even shutdown.
Blech.

I agree with all of the above. Back in the days of 10.1 counting Dock bounces when an app. was launched was a widely used method of describing the slowness of the OS. Tiger has returned to this with some taking up to 5 bounces to launch. The spinning ball of WAITING is all too prevalent. And this is on a G5 2g dual.
I really hope that 10.4.2 fixes these nasties.

Had same prob with Tiger until I freed up more disk space. I had aboout 2 Gb of ~ 120 available, and crashed at least once per day. Freed up some so I had 7Gb avail, and no crashes in 6 weeks since.

Same here. Tiger 10.4.1 has crashed much more than 10.3.x ever did for me. And iChat audio doesn't work, and Safari is crashing all the time. I've been waiting for the 10.4.2 upgrade too. I hope I'm not disappointed.

I had similar problems and it wound up being my microsoft mouse. I could move the mouse but the system would freeze. As soon as I replaced it with a kensington the problem went away

I agree with you completely. There's no question that these problems occur waaay more often with Tiger. Let's hope 10.4.2 restores stability to Panther levels.
