This relates to the recent post of yours about the couple of Turkish origin who's child was registered with Turkey - remember?
I sent in a British Freedom of Information request. This is the answer I got:
" Dear Sir
Thank you for your email.
From a Nationality point of view, if a parent successfully registers their child as a British Citizen on the form MN1, the UKBA does not inform any other country of this.
With regard to Dual Nationality, whilst the UK allows and recognizes Dual Nationality, it is the responsibility of the parent/s to contact the relevant authorities in the second country in order to establish whether the child is able to retain that nationality in addition to British Citizenship. The UK cannot comment on another country's Nationality Laws.
If the child is automatically British at birth (the parent is able to pass his/her British Citizenship onto the child automatically), the decision to inform the parent's country of origin of the birth would be a matter for the General Registers Office. Please refer to their website - www.gro.gov.uk .
It is unlikely that any government department within the UK will inform the parent's country of origin that a child has been born in the UK - this is the responsibility of the parent/s.
Yours sincerely
