Comments on Klein Verzet

Bit of an exaggeration, the media that were interested first want to see the movie before broadcasting it. Which seems like a decent demand but Wilders won't allow it.

If what Henk is saying is true, then I must say that it seems a little strange for Geert Wilders to refuse a preview. Geert Wilders, as much as I support him, can't expect that a TV company will broadcast something without first viewing what they are to broadcast, especially with a film as controversial as this.

Mark,

What Henk is saying is not exactly factual. As reported by the Volkskrant, broadcasters seem to have an issue with Widers insistence that the film be broadcast entirely, without editing.

Wilders offered interested broadcasters a preview, if they were willing to show the film. All of them weren't and hence are not given a preview.

Mind you, the objection to transmitting a 15-minute film unedited seems to me an issue of convenience. I am totally unsurprised about the Dutch MSM showing a yellow streak, after the cancelation of a rerun of Sumbission for an inetrview show with Hirsi Ali two years ago.

Klein

Thanks for the heads-up. That clarifies the situation for me.

I am certainly not surprised that the MSM are unwilling to show the film; indeed, I would be surprised if they were to be willing to show it.

Look how yellow the MSM have been about the Motoons? To my knowledge, not one newspaper printed them in the UK, and that goes for the States, too. In fact, in this matter, the European press have been far more courageous, the Danish press particularly so.

The news about Islam keeps getting more and more and more depressing. Geert Wilders is about the only politician prepared to make a stand; and for that preparedness and courage, we should all support him. I wish I could vote for him. I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.

So it's coming down to this...

It's not that I didn't expect it but reading about it gives me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Where will it stop?

Thanks for posting the updates KV and Ferdy, your insight is welcome...

Mark, Dinah,

There are a couple of bright spots in this whole sad affair.

Despite the Dutch MSM campaign to whip up antipathy against Wilders a majority of the Dutch think the film should be shown on national TV (link).

And the CDA, our PMs party, is hurting from the CDA ministers attempts to shut Wilders up. Currently the CDA polls at 29 seats in Second Chamber, down from the 41 they hold currently (link). Dutch public and Dutch politics seem to be of differing views on the subject.
