I understand you're upset because korean drama is popular. i mean, sometimes i feel that hollywood is influencing koreans too much and stuff and i would like koreans to pay more attention to their own treasure at home (meaning our culture--drama, movies, traditional stuff..) but why not just enjoy it with everyone else at the moment and not just deny it? you only watched winter sonata, you might like other dramas. and winter sonata...it had feelings to it, believe me. maybe you didn't like it because it didn't go the way you wanted it to or the storyline was just too slow. but korean dramas and movies do show some unique relationships & characteristics, etc. and the actors are good-looking (and good at acting, like lee yung-ae and bae yong-joon.) you realize how much fun you're missing?

am i the only one commenting...?

yur da most selfish humanbeing on earth! wats wrong wit u? hello, kdrams r...exquisite. i can't live w/o them, and many people will agree wit me. u only watched 1 drama n you're vowing u'll never watch another 1? crazy, crazy...

ditto j&ilovekorea

take out yur dam pic,man
ya killed da whole site;;
i don't like the winter story or whatever it's caled, but the girl's hot.

what the hell is jdrama? japanese drama? if yur chinese, why not watch chinese drama? n yur talking shit about korean dramas? or is it just dat no one (includin me) don't know what jdrama is?!

J : only 1 is enough for me to feel it.

ilovekorea : yes, you are probably right, I am selfish. So, what does that have to do here?

Deedee : same reply as the above two.

xiangpower3 : what pic? the picture of me smilling? So? I am not ashamed to show my ugly face to the world. Are you daring enough to do that?

rookietong : Yes, Jdrama is Japanese Drama. Yes, I am chinese. And I also watched chinese serials. In fact, TVB's 2004 lineups I almost completely watched ALL series except for a couple that I don't like. And the best TVB series so far I watched is Triumph In The Skies, The Last Breakthrough...and a few more...

I don't know why you hate Kdrama so much. I am a chinese too and I have no problem with Kdrama. Once I watched a Korean drama and i found it so boring. I always think that Kdrama is always the same thing. One of the character always die form cancer or natural cause. However that doesn't stop me from watching Kdrama. I didn't know what "jewel in the Palace" is about, but I heard a lot of people are watching it and has high rating so i rent two episodes. I found it really interesting and is very different from other Kdrama. Full of details and K history. I love it so please stop dissing other people culture because you are turning racist. By the way TVB is going to realease a Jdrama that is almost similar to "jewel in the Palace" so compare which one did better by that time BIAS!!!

Firstly, I already wrote why I hate Kdramas, didn't you read?

Secondly, this is the first time I have been called racist because I say "I hate Kdramas". Did I say I also hate Koreans? Don't remember that I do.

thirdly, can you please kindly tell me what is the title of the Jdramas that TVB is going to show. I searched TVB.com high and low and I cannot find any mentioned of it. It would help if I know the title of the Jdramas so that I can check and reply to your question.

fourthly, I already said before "Call is bias or anything you want." So, fine by me if you are saying that I am bias.

Fifthly, Thank you for visiting my blog.

You know, you're 100% entitled to your opinion, but when someone resorts to TYPING IN ALL CAPS!!!!!! in up-sized, bold text (with different colors no less) it doesn't exactly create the impression of a well-reasoned argument being presented. Was someone really so annoying that it prompted this kind of response? You're lucky you aren't as prominent as Scott Kurtz; the few snarky comments here are nothing compared to the flood of hatemail he got after he went on a tirade about how "Matrix Revoutions Sucked Ass" on what's supposed to be the site for his online comic. (He removed that article from the rants page before too long).

My way of thinking is that it's better to deconstruct things so that you can appreciate the underlying problems rather than being paralyzed by obsessing over the surface details. If people are being retarded and rubbing K-dramas in your face, the real problem is that people are stupid, and guess what? I already knew that.

At last, someone with real comments!

Thank you for the comments, I really appreciate it.

Btw, I didn't use all caps though. just the DIE KDRAMAS DIE thingy and some name calling with caps.

Yeah, I know what you mean when you say people are stupid. I think.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Try Full House if you dont like it take to me
it seem that you watch the sad-kind kdrama only try some fun ones ask other people

and I LOVE JDRAMA TOOOOO~

thanks for the suggestion and thank you for visiting my blog!

hmmm nothing much to say, but i have to agree that GTO is very good... but general bashing of a whole culture of dramas aint that .. umm good.. i mean, atleast you could have compared more series with each other... its just like, ok now,, winter sonata represents kdrama and GTO represents jdramas... no fair... hehe GTO is one the best and hardly none can compare with it imho.. :D

[quote]....hehe GTO is one the best and hardly none can compare with it imho.. :D....
[endquote]

I agree.

agree with GTO .. GTO is my favorite JDrama.

But you should watch Full House, before I watched Full house, I hate KDrama too (because of Autumn Tale).
I didn't watch Kdrama for years, because I thought all Kdrama is sucks and always has sad ending (I watched Autumn Tale, it supposed a sad Kdrama, but I didn't feel sad .. not like GTO **your fave** .. GTO can make me laugh and cry at the same time)
So .. my korean Friend told me, I should watch Full House .. AND after Full House .. I changed my mind about Kdrama ^_^

btw ... Dae Jang Geum is the best Kdrama ever !!!
I love DJG .. if you only watch the first episode, sure it is a little bit boring.
But after 2 or 3 episodes, I couldn't stop watching DJG :D

Thank you for your suggestion. And thank you for visiting my blog.

You're FAT. Get off the internet you loser and get a life. If I knew where you lived then I would give you a swift kick to the nads because of your ugly ass.

Now to get on subject Jdramas > ALL

Weird, really. Are you agreeing or are you not agreeing?

however, I go agree....Jdramas > ALL.

I agree Jdramas are better than Kdramas, except maybe for Full House, which I really enjoyed.

Yeah, I know. Somehow everyone likes Full House....but me......

oh shush, just because something is Japanese does not mean it's great. I have seen my fair share of both bad Jdramas and Kdramas, it all depends on the series. I have to say though, some of the bollywood stuff whomps em both.

There are good and bad like anything.
Most US stuff sucks lately. The last thing I liked was Buffy and Angel.

Good Stuff: Jewel in the Palace, Rebirth, Full House, Sandglass
Mixed Bag: Winter Sonata, I'm Sorry I Love You
Sucks Big time: Autumn Tale, Stairways to Heaven

It seems you are reacting more to the hype than any real objective view. If I rated US shows based on watching one series say, "Joey", I'm sure I wouldn't be taken seriously.

Wow...that must mean that you probably do not like much of anything buddy...I am so sorry for you! Does that mean that, let's say, you don't like the taste of a drink, then you do not like any other drink in existence? Or, if you do not like the way that chicken tasted one time, you do not eat chicken? It seems to me that you just do not like the hype about it, so therefore, you say you do not like ANY Korean dramas. Woew, you like Anime? A lot of people like Anime you know, then perhaps Anime sucks and should die as well...There is also bad Anime...so, you need to stop liking Anime right this second!

Things I like, I like.
Things I dislike, I dislike.

yeah, if I dislike animes, I will dislike animes.

and yeah, if I dislike a drink, I will dislike it.

and yeah, if I hate something like chicken, I will stop taking chicken for the rest of my life.

I hate prawns. I never eat prawns.
I hate vegetables. I never eat vegetable.
I hate movies. I stop watching movies.
I hate radio music. I never listen to radio music directly. Indirectly, I bear with it, because I can't just go up to the person and say "Hey, can you turn off your radio?"

so, you see.... I hate what I hate....

srry i dont know how i exaclt came across this page but your blog attracted my attention, i wont judge you bc we all have our own opinions and i also believe winter sonata was so gay. - -;;
but i still love kdrama's

...if u hate it,just keep it to urself.

minna ni okotte sasenai you ni~~!!

oo.personal comment.i luve jdrama.more than kdrama.n agree wit jdrama have more soul than kdrama.

I find your logic a little strange. So you didn't get any 'feeling' from winter sonata. Fine, I don't blame you, I couldn't even get through the first episode. But saying all korean tv is terrible just because you didn't like one series is like saying all mexican food is terrible because you had a bad experince at a taco bell. Or that you don't like rock because one david bowie song just didn't do it for you. It's just a little sad that you would so completely generalize an entire media genre based on one (or two if you count autumn's tale- i think they were both created by the same person, by the way) tired melodrama. I admit, a lot of korean dramas are painfully repetitive, but I also greatly admire their ability to make the same stories new time and time again. What I like is that they really focus more on characters than storylines, and there's usually far greater developement that way. Characters are what make a good story in the first place. And while I love jdramas, they're often more restrained than kdramas, and are therefore less satisfying. Oh, and for the record, kdrama soundtracks are amazing. I've watched tons of jdrama, but most of the music featured is jpop. I've heard an incredible range of music in kdramas.
I completely respect your opinion, and if you dislike something you are, of course, free to dislike it. I'm really not trying to tell you that you have to like kdramas or that you're wrong if you dislike them. I just feel the kind of thinking you outlined above may lead you to miss out, and that's why I bothered writing this.

you know instead of insulting people who like korean dramas or japanese dramas or the actual drama itself may you should watch other dramas. I mean like i didnt like winter sonata but i still like other dramas. I dont like watching dramas because of hot guys i just like it. Like seriously since you stopped watching korean dramas right after watching the two mentioned above then you actually have no real insight on dramas and you shouldn't criticize them. you shouldn't criticize on things that you don't know much about.

I don't need to watch anymore, as many people that watched more kdramas than me told me about kdramas. And the conclusion is the same as what I have said. Don't need for me to repeat it here.

Every single jdrama ive seen are good, but wen i start watching kdramas.....its like O.O what are they talkin about, i dnt get it....Da only movies i like (kdrama) is attack on the pin-up boys, Goong and full house.
So I think ill go wit
Jdrama>kdrama

So u guys r sayin if ur chinese u have 2 watch chinese movie......So r u Korean? Can only Korean people watch kdramas.............Answer Me!!!!!

EVEN THOUGH I MAY NEVA READ DIS EVA AGEN!

Hopefully one day you will read my reply:

No, I am not saying if I am chinese I need to watch Chinese movies.

I am saying the Kdramas lack in substance as compared to Jdrama....

and if you ever can't understand what I just said, then don't bother asking again, because the conclusion is clear.

Jdramas is better than Kdramas. PERIOD.

Hi, I just read your post about Jdramas beating Kdramas in substance. I admit that I prefer the Japanese style of making drama series but there are some good Kdramas out there as well. Some people would really kill for their favorite Kdramas, hence the violent reactions to your entry. It also has to do with culture, I guess.

However, I still respect your opinion and I just felt like commenting.

Anyway, if ever you change your mind, you may try watching some Kmovies first to alleviate the initial dislike. Try action flicks like Oldboy and Arahan, which you may or may not find interesting.

Thanks.

Another thing about Kdramas is that it is long winded like Taiwan drama and Hong Kong Drama........ too many unnecessary storylines.....

I know there are a few good Kdramas, but I still can't take their long winded storyline too......
