Codename : Dreams

One man's meat is another man's poison. What's the big deal if someone loves something and another hates it? I wouldn't label those (dis)likings as selfish, crazy or whatever. Just a matter of opinions, people.

Thank you!
Exactly what I am also thinking too.

You're right... I agree... Hehe... Jdrama better than KDrama honestly... Kdrama only have the bueaty on the front, put out all the beaties and handsomes... People watch them only! You agree with this?

of course I agree. I already mentioned in that previous blog entry about it.

Intersting stuff! One thing is most def. for certain -- Asian TV/Feature Films are by far superior to US/UK work.

More and more -- US filmmakers are "borrowing" or just simply remaking what I've been able to obtain and see coming out of Asia --- and, in that process, drain much of the depth and meaning from the original source. This is true even in the case of horror films. I dread to think what US filmmakers will be doing when they remake the Korean film, OLDBOY.

the US movie maker would be smart not use Korean movies/series to remake.....

Neon Genesis Evangelion the movie is already in pre-pre-production. Hopefully, it will be good. or something like that....

Well, I just stumbled on your blog and happened to read your opinion on Kdrama... it's a very interesting post.

I watched Kdrama before Jdrama, was addicted once (when I was in junior high, duh) but trust me, Kdrama is losing its flavor. At first, I loved it because it was different, it was exotic... but K directors kept hitting on the same topic when they produce their dramas that I started to lose interest all together (Then: love > separation > death. Now: comedy > love > comedy). Jdrama are different, they have more substance imo and more varieties, and they are much closer to real life that I can totally feel for each character; whereas, Kdrama are more like fairytales type of drama (that's why they're so popular). I'm touched much more deeply when I watch Jdrama (the kind of pain that swells in your chest and it pains your heart in a way that's hard to describe). I still watch both J & Kdrama alternatively, but Kdrama don't have that "soul" feel you talked about.

thank you for visiting my blog and commenting.
Yeah, you understand the "soul" thingy that I talked about. Good.
thanks again.

i saw ur blog on a web search and i sort of sense ur anger... although u dislike kdramas, i dont think u have the right to critisize it... i may dislike alot of things but i dont actually say it coz it may hurt other people's feelings... and some people may like kdramas coz these may be fairy tales that dont always happen in real life... thats why its they are so mesmerized over it... i m not against jdramas... but neither m i for kdramas... its jus that i think u r too harsh... u cant change anythin...

mAgiC, it is my opinion. that's all. And no, didn't think I am too harsh about my conclusion though.

Whoaaa.. So brave and bold statement! I have to agree that Kdrama lacks soul. Jdrama are wayyyyyy better. And I hate Rory being a slutty girl too.. LOL.

I don't hate Kdrama entirely.. But I just loooove Jdrama. Passion and souls! Who could beat them? not even Smallville or CSI.

Hell Yeah!!

Glad you understanding what I am saying.

Interesting; how each of you guys has a thought.

I have something to say about k-drama. I don ’t know is culture or what, but why do k-drama always end up having SOME 1 or 2 die in the movie. About 90% from all the “k-dramas” I’ve watched always end up cancer or hospital issues. It’s always so sad and the story line is always the same* for the girl: neither she’s sad or childish. I mean, don’t you want to watch movies that make you learn something different or at least pick up something new from the video? I remember this one k-drama that I watched; at first, one of the guy die by car accident and then a girl die becoz of some kind of cancer in the movie, then later on the nice old grandmother pass always. So I realized, their just dieing after each other; and will everybody in the movie going to die or what?? I think will be cool if they made the little puppy dog will die along too if there’s PART 2. I’m starting to think maybe Korea has Cancer problems or maybe …. Humm... anways I can’t think any reason way they love to produce these kinds of movie but I (personally) think k-drama isn’t good enough to be with Chinese/Taiwanese drama nor Japanese drama or even Thai dramas.

thanks for taking your time to read this, miyu.... Nov 11, 2005

Well, if you dislike Kdramas, it's fine. You just don't need to watch them. But I think that you don't need to tell everyone how much you dislike Kdramas. I mean, it would tear the heart of Kdramas' fans. So if you want to point out why you dislike Kdramas so much, just write your point for disliking it. You shouldn't tell people how bad their taste for watching Kdramas. You sounded like insulting Kdramas from the Kdramas' fans view. Different people have different taste. To you, you might think that Kdramas are crap, but to other people, they're enjoying it. Not because for unreasonable reasons (the actors/actress good-looking, etc.) but because they love the storyline.

To me, I watch Jdramas, Kdramas and Cdramas. There are some that boring and entertaining. If the story is interesting, I'll continue to watch it until the end and vice versa. So in the end, it is up to people to decide whether they want to watch or not to watch Kdramas.

im sorry for you!!!
people have been flaming you unneccasarily just because you dont like kdrama...
unfortunately, i have to agree with you (which is a miracle since im the antagonist for every forum and blog)
kdrama is bad than jdrama...
why???
like this chinese man from malaysia said...kdrama have no soul!!!
i agree 99%...i've seen several kdrama (thanks to my friend who's so into kdrama...lets just say i got bored and force myself to swallow stuff)...winter sonata is really BAD!!! it's worse than my smelly feet! i've seen "a few" series in tv3 and oh my god...i almost fall asleep...on my dinner!!! but then, full house (kdrama) is a good and nice one..got soul and humourous too...you should try it...just a recommendation!!!
currently, i just finish watching nobuta wo produce and hana yori dango (japanese version)
both are great jdrama...to those who's so obsessed with kdrama should try these two titles and you will see the BIG!!! difference between jdrama and kdrama...
when i was young...i use to watch GTO that's been aired in tv3...that time i was in school and my okaasan (mother) lay a strict rule for not letting me watch series cuz later i'll be sticking to the tv everyday...but tengu(devil) me quietly sneaks off to catch a few glimpse of GTO now and then...you didnt see me acting this way for kdrama...not winter sonata, not autumn in my heart, not this not that kdrama
and guess what...high schooler me will always stays late to watch beautiful life that aired somewhere during midnight and end up dozing off during lectures!!!
so you can see the extend of how good jdrama over kdrama...and i repeat...it's not like i've never watch kdrama...i've seen a lot!!!
by the way, since you live in the same country as me...mind posting me the jdrama that you have? as college student...i dont have much income now...do i??

The bottom line is that Kdramas don't have soul....

k dramas are the best. jdramas are so boring. kdramas rock!!!
fighting

j dramas are very borin, i try see but fall asleep.kdramas are funy have a relly good history and good soundtrack and are very sweet like goong princess hours and full house are the best i see

I wonder which has the better history........ and which really is the better storylines....

To the person who said that Nobuta wo Produce and Hana Yori Dango was good, I just want to say that you named at least one of the best dramas I've ever seen. But that doesn't mean Jdramas are much better than Kdramas (all types of dramas have exceptions). I'm a drama lover and first got into Kdramas from Autumn Tale because of its fascinating detail in depicting the build-up of relationships between the opposite sex (say the 2 leads and their co-stars). Koreans just have this amazing ability to draw out chemistry between actors and actresses without using physical means (groping, excessive kissing, sex, etc.) in the GOOD dramas (especially in the older series). For me, it's just magic and completely fascinating. I suppose you call it slow, but I call it attention to detail; I don't call it slow unless everything happening is really meaningless. But I find slow development between characters who have chemistry, very entertaining to watch (it would be very boring without chemistry) and don't consider it as being "slow." After watching many Kdramas and enjoying many (there were some really bad ones that I just couldn't get into especially ones lately), I decided to turn to Jdramas and tried watching some via recommendations and couldn't get through a lot of them due to lack of chemistry between the leads and how BORING they were. I even tried sticking it out to the end for one of them (I really wanted to like JDramas) and it just turned out flat -my sister abandoned it a while ago saying she didn't like the acting -too anime-like. That's one of the problems: Jdramas feature actors and actresses who tend to act like characters from anime and it gets really fake and annoying at times. Then finally, an amazing drama like Hana Yori Dango came out (although I already knew and loved the storyline from the manga and meteor garden) and I LOVED it. Nowadays, Jdramas are starting to turn their mangas into dramas, which I think will improve them story-wise (that's another thing I don't like about Jdramas: their weird storylines). All in all, tv's about entertainment so I'd rather be entertained than watch a drama with a completely unique storyline that I find distasteful and unappealing. Seriously, all this complaint about unoriginality really is unfounded; if you really want original, I can come up with something right away but it won't be appealing. Therefore, to me, there are a lot more GOOD Kdramas than Jdramas, but that's not to say all Jdramas are bad (Nodame Cantabile is good and Hana Yori Dango is AMAZING). If only there were more Jdramas like Hana Yori Dango (Great love story and amazing chemistry between leads), then I would be more into Jdramas.

Whatever.... I stop arguing about it anyway. Why debate about it, when it is just a waste of time.

hi kljs. first time here. frankly speaking somethimes i thinking same as u.

for me if u looking for best love story drma, go for kdrma.

if u looking for some moral value and "soul" as kljs said, go for jdrama.

just my 2cent

forgot to mention, most kdrmas about the rich people, wealth, prestige... hurmm

Yeah. Thanks for the support or something like that....
My blog has moved though, please visit http://kennyljs.com/

Shame on them , noone could buy
acer,again . I am going to sargastic
this animal drama (because it is against Christianity) and sooner or will they had to suffer!

maou is a remake from Kdrama mawang
hahaha eat that!!!!

at above comment. Yeah so, add hotelier and my sassy girl to the list.
But eat this!!!101 st proposal, White Tower, the upcoming k version of Hana yori dango and movie antique cake shop are remakes of Jdramas. If you're trying to state the Kdrama is better than Jdrama because of Jdrama doing remakes, then you need to come up with better points.

eerrr.. i think both Jdramas and Kdramas have their "GOOD" series and "BAD" series. I myself is studying about filmmaking, and i've found that not every Jdramas are good, and not Kdramas are bad, vice versa.

So, why don't we just watch and don't categorize them with the term "Jdrama" or "Kdrama". Each of them has its unique storytelling..

The important thing is "the objective" for making that drama. What do you want to tell? Why do you want to tell it? And "who" is your target audience? If there is no "reason" for making a drama, it's really really a BAD drama. So, try to be more objective.. Maybe you're not Kdramas' target audience..

And the last thing that i want to say,"everyone who just love and watch DRAMAS because of their beautiful appearance (actor, actress, special effect, setting, costume, etc) has no right to critize DRAMAS."
Let's think, why is a drama made? Drama is made to tell a STORY!

So stop this stupid debate okay?

Peace..

You're an idiot. So you watch one Kdrama(winter sonata) which happens to target middle aged women and now assume that all Kdramas are like that.

You're a 30 year old male watching a drama for 30-50 year old women. What do you expect? Its not that K-drama sucks. Its that you're expecting too much from a housewife flick.

Jesus. There are plenty of non-kdrama housewife flicks as well. Why dont you cry about them as well?
