Gravatar Nicely done, Ken, even though my non-math brain stumbles over the numbers.

Gravatar Oh, I forgot to guess which blog is number 1, even though I don't really understand the ranking system (my fault, not yours). Anyway, I'm going with my buddy Sluggo.

Gravatar Hey - Sunday is supposed to be a day off! Data analysis can wait (in my case, forever).

Gravatar i wonder if being #1 is 90x times as cool as being #ninety!

Gravatar Since you're a math wiz, I don't know if this was hard work for you or not, but interesting and good job! I do know that if you determined links by Technorati, then there are sites that link to me that have never shown up over there. Since the whole think makes my brain hurt, I haven't bothered to figure out why that is. However, I'm very impressed that you can do it.

Gravatar Oooh, I LOVE analysis. This was great - thanks!

Gravatar Nice job. Thanks. My uncategorizable scrapbook type of blog is low traffic, so Carnival is usually helpful for me. I have noticed that whenever I get into several days of political rants, my site traffic jumps, even though I have nothing original ro contribute to political discourse. That's sad.

Gravatar Goodness, Ken. Did your slide rule set off your smoke alarm? This was something new and cool.

Gravatar By the way, there's no way No. 1 isn't Mr. Snitch!

Gravatar Thanks for the hard work. Statistics are always interesting to ponder and poke for meaning.

As for how I do it - well, I have a couple of clones and a time machine. Other than that, it's child's play.

Gravatar Very cool, SmadaNek.

Gravatar Thanks for making my head spin like Linda Blair's in the Exorcist....LOL Now we know who got the "A" in "statistics." Good job!

Gravatar I would recommend visiting the Blog by Harvard's Program on Networked Governance headed by David Lazer.

The Complexity and Social networks blogs covers various issues such as Powerlaws... http://www.iq.harvard.edu/blog/netgov/

You can find even more information on SNA by Ines mergel here: http://www.ksg.harvard.edu/netgo...ov/html/ sna.htm

Gravatar I'm not quite sure I get the system either but I made the top 20 so I'm guessing that's a good thing?

You definitely get extra points for creativity and dedication!

Gravatar You better watch out, you're making the analysis more compelling than the actual links. Some interesting items: The "higher-linked" blogs tended to be centrist or right, which is surprising in New Jersey (which we think of as Blue). In fact, the representation of political opinion seems to be fairly evenly distributed among the blogs shown. It might even balance to center, which again one does not expect in a Blue state.

The top linkgetter, Gigglechick, might be seen as neutral (she doesn't post that much by way of politics as far as I know, so I don't know her leanings... I'd GUESS left-leaning but again that's just a guess).

Of course, it's also possible some blogs are linked specifically to disagree with them.

The number of blogs posting just once and then vanishing is telling. It's easy to start a blog, but difficult to maintain it over time. It's also easy to become discouraged when readership does not develop as one might like. For these reasons, it's not surprising so many come and go on your chart.

Really fine job, Ken. I have seen a lot of trackback parties and Carnivals of all stripes, but I have never seen this kind of an analysis attempted.

I apologize for not sending in a post of my own to you this week. I have been preoccupied with a number of issues lately and it's all I can do to even keep up the blog. No mindshare left for self-promo.

Gravatar That graph made me run from the room screaming as visions of my college math classes flooded my liberal arts brain, but I enjoyed this week's carnival.

Gravatar Excellent job, Ken, and many thanks for your very kind words.

Is Mr. Snitch #1?
