I wonder if we should replace the phrase "pressure to be perfect" with the phrase "feedback and criticism". I'm guessing it's the bottom half of the teachers who feel the most heat, and perhaps this is as it should be.
Are good teachers being forced out by unreasonable parents, or are parents the only thing weeding out the teachers who fail? Mediocre teachers who do not rock the boat are usually tolerated by their manager and peers. Who else would apply real pressure to them, if not the parents?
Even better, let's replace the words "teachers" and "parents" with "vendors" and "customers". Nobody is surprised when retailers say they are exhausted by the expectations of their customers - especially those retailers who aren't able to keep up.
