One year when I was quite grown up, my mother asked if there had ever been something I had wanted but had not gotten for Christmas. I had to think awhile because Santa and Mother and Daddy were very generous. Then it popped into my head, a Raggedy Ann doll. When I was very little all the girls in the neighborhood had the but me. I think what I liked best about the dolls was the bright red hair and the freckles. Santa brought me one for the very next Christmas. She was a very special one, handmade by Santa's helper, named Muriel, or so I suspect. |
