To Philly, From Alaska, w/comments

HaloScan.com - Comments

Hi David - thanks for the comment earlier - I'm going to put you on my roll - best regards!

Why do some kids go all the time and some don't? Is it a parental thing, some parents go and take their kids and some don't? Just curious.

Love your blog, it's great learning about an unfamiliar culture from someone immersed in it.

Just came to your blog from Fish Out of Water. I've always been fascinated with Alaska since my first trip there when I was 13. I'll be back!

Love your Blog. Keep the updates coming.

Interesting post. I'd also like to know why some kids hunt and others don't.

I've also been waiting to see what the thaw is like up there. I imagine it's coming before too long?

Males do most of the hunting. Here, just like everywhere else, there are a number of single parent homes.

It's beginning to thaw, but it's still very cold. It's been in the negative single digits every night for the past few weeks.

Thanks for your comments! Next month is the last month of the school year. It's gone by very quickly.

Does the school year run differently then? We don't finish here in the UK until the end of July.

Also, are you going to stay on next school year? I really enjoy reading about your experiences - they are so different to my own.

The silent (knowing) smiles of local flavor exist too, as bursts of (sometimes interrupted) energy across a virtual network connecting spiritually (but not physically) lost souls to those of their ancestors. Except those of their ancestors are etched in memory (always across the miles)... or portrayed by the pen of a kass'aq boy. Accurate by pen? Maybe not to me, but still accurate for he, as through two sets of different eyes do we see. And, portrayals by 'he' or 'they' are always interesting to see, how you view we.

So... the million dollar question... will you stay another year? btw, very few kass'aq have existed and persevered in delta villages. Honestly, I'm curious on your (frank) interpretation on life out there. Could you ever see yourself living there, not visiting, but living?

My father was in the Air Force, so I moved a lot as a kid. I did spend most of my teenage years in one place, but since then other than college, two years is the most I've lived at any one place. Perhaps I've always only been vsiting, but it feels like I've been living. Maybe it's more of a question of where I want to settle down, but I honestly do not have an answer to that question.

Yes, I will be here next year. I really haven't given much thought as to where I'll be after that.

David, perhaps I've missed it elsewhere, but do you plan to spend summer up there? Or will be coming back down to the 48?

I really enjoy you blog and look forward to future updates...

Scott- Going back to Philly for a month, then Juneau for classes and straight back to Tunt in August.

Hi, someone sent me this site for wholesale distributor. Do you think something like this will work?
