Just found your blog a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was just me getting all the tingly feelings. (Actually they started about a year ago)
I have always thought that the invasion of Iraq and Afganastan were to provide a pinch point against Iran. That said, I want to comment on the China/NK connection in all of this.
China has always maintained that Taiwan HAS to come back into the fold.
They want Taiwan because it is the linch pin for domination of Southeast Asia, in as much as the US solidly backs Taiwan and prevents China hegemony in the area.
I think China/NK will use the Iranian crisis to push us out of the South China sea and give them a green light to exploit the rich resources in the area (oil, rubber, etc.) they badly need in order continue their insane industrial growth. Granted we are currently the main sorce of income for China but, historically they have always looked years in advance. This said, I fear China may be crazy like a fox during this period of instability, using NK for its plausible deniablity and pursue the pressure against US influence in their back yard by playing off Iran against the US (EMP might even come into play here, possibly supporting one through NK into Iran against the US). This scenerio would (according to their way of thinking, not mine) cause the US to pull troops back home to take care of a domestic crisis thereby giving them (China) the green light in the area.
