The arrogance of the left is destroying us. One only has to look at the lessons the modern left has taught us...and continues to teach us...compared to the lessons of history to realize that history is a better source of information.

I am always amazed at the response of leftward leaning intellectuals, including historians, when I mention that history is useful. They are utterly shocked at the very thought. They do not understand at all that our society gives over a considerable portion of wealth to them, not for some kind of umbilical contemplation, but for an actual increase in our understanding of the inter-relation of human beings and events, over time, with a view to better decision making in the future. It´s not that they don't believe me.It is, rather, that they have never once, in years of college and graduate school,considered the proposition.

I often believe that this understanding of the uses of history was the beginning of my re-education, after I escaped from college, that brought me to Classical Liberalism, or, as they've tried to call it since FDR, Conservatism.
